Ontario unveils first detailed look at how legal cannabis is sold in first year of online salesThe Ontario Cannabis Store released its initial update on the state of the provincial cannabis market on Monday, offering the first detailed glimpse of how legalization has fared in the country's largest consumer market. The OCS said in its report that its online store sold about 7.2 tonnes of legal pot while the 53 bricks-and-mortar licensed stores in the province sold 27.9 tonnes of cannabis from April 2019 to the end of March 2020. More than $385 million worth of cannabis was sold during that period, according to OCS calculations, which added that legal sales now account for 19 per cent of the overall market. Meanwhile, sales of Cannabis 2.0 products neared $20 million in the first three months of the year, with the OCS describing the initial roll-out as "fairly narrow."
